What a perfect way to finish off the summer season… waist deep in the warm water at Stanley Park’s Third Beach, snapping away as the sun dropped into the ocean. Even better, this mama is a fellow North Vancouver photographer (check out Pure & Sweet Photography)! When she brought up her idea of doing a session at the beach with her baby girl, my first question was “Will you get in the water”? The answer was yes, so I was excited. Since we’re both newborn photographers, and newborns arrive whenever they feel like it, it took a while for our schedules to line up. Finally one day at lunchtime we decided to go for it that evening, even though she hadn’t planned what to wear, and I couldn’t find a babysitter. I’m soooo glad we decided to just do it! The weather was perfect, the outfit she pulled together was gorgeous, and baby was in a great mood (as always)… she didn’t even notice it was past her bedtime 🙂 Here are a handful of my favourite images from the session, and a little bonus at the end!
Before I sign off, I’ll share an adorable “behind-the-scenes” shot. These three (my two on the left, her son on the right) were on their very best behaviour while we did the session. They built sand castles, dug holes, and collected seaweed as independently as you could expect from a 5, 4 and 3 year old. Yes, there were plenty of quick breaks in shooting, and many shots with little cuties running in and out of the frame, but overall, I’d say we all pulled it off. They got their turn to swim after the sun set, and were still giggling as we wrapped them up like burritos to dry off before heading home to bed 🙂
